Very good question. When we look around us, it looks like everything we see has been expanding for a long time. So yes, around us it looks like space is expanding and getting bigger. Even better, it looks like this expansion is accelerating, meaning that space is getting bigger and bigger, but also faster and faster.
However, I shall insist on the fact that we only can see a small fraction of the Universe with our telescopes. It could be that space is getting bigger and bigger around us, but in some other places, it is contracting. But we would need to travel there to know, and it’s quite a long way from Earth…
Dear Fatima,
As long as you like what you do, hard won’t be a problem, believe me 😉 It is a little hard to study a lot when you are a student, but in the end, it’s a lot of fun once you get your degree. Think about it: people spend MOST of their time working in their life, so you’d rather fight hard to get a cool job! And honestly, even when I was a student, I still had a lot of fun with my friends, although I was working a lot. As long as you like what you do, you will be fine!
Once you’re a scientist, of course there will be challenges along the way. Sometimes you face problems that you can’t solve, sometimes you have colleagues that are not nice with you, sometimes you’re not getting the job you were dreaming of, but overall, you will have more fun than troubles, believe me. As long as you keep positive, and always look forwards, the hard parts will quickly fade away.
