  Would it ever be possible? So if we imagine that we could find a way to connect the thousands of connections from the brain into the reset of the nervous system so that it could keep everything in our body still running – which would be an operation of unimaginable complexity – then would the brain be able to control that body? Well probably not, because our brains develop and ‘wire’ to respond to the specific signals that it is receiving and how it then ‘processes’ them to give the sensation or make a movement. Connecting to a different body would make such a massive difference to the brain that it would not just work, it would have to relearn everything.
  
  So, no, I don’t think it would be possible. But then I’m sure that people 200 years ago wouldn’t have thought a heart transplant was possible.
