      Let me give you a personal answer rather than a textbook philosophy one: Science is, for me, the idea of digging beyond common sense to understand nature better. I had a teacher calling physics the philosophy of nature, and I think that’s true. For me, a good scientist is not someone who has multiple publications on the same boring topic but someone who really tries hard to go beyond current knowledge to understand something nobody understood before.

      However, I’m focusing on the research aspect of science here because that’s what I do. There also exists applied science in which, given the current knowledge, scientists build things using science as a tool to achieve building incredible technologies, structures, etc. This also is an exciting job!
