I wanted to be a volcanologist, someone who studied volcanoes! Then I found out there were volcanoes on Mars… and that’s just really cool, so I knew I had to do that!
Well, in elementary school, I wanted to become a maths teacher. Then in High School I thought all my maths teacher look sad and frustrated, so I decided I wanted to do research in maths. At the time I really didn’t like physics as what they were making us do at school about physics was not that fun.
Then I went to University, and had a terrible math teacher and a great physics teacher telling us about space and cosmology and I really loved it! I also loved it when I understood that there is a lot of maths hidden in physics, then I decided that’s what I really wanted to do.
I used to want to be an archeologist and dig up some cool things, and then I wanted to be a lawyer as well. I didn’t fully know what I wanted to be for a while and that’s okay! Interests change and the more you learn about a subject the more you can enjoy it as well. This is what happened at A- Level for me and physics. I loved the subject and thought space was really interesting so I chose to study it at University. So don’t worry if you’re not sure, just pick subjects you like and enjoy and you can’t go wrong 🙂
